Adi Kamatchi Temple

Adi Kamaktchi temple is supposedly older than the Kamatchi temple known as Kaamakottam
The temple is more than 1000 years old.
A Sri Chakra was installed by Adi Sankara to calm the deity. pooja and abishekam is offered to the srichakra and not the deity.
A sakthi lingam is also worshipped here. Since it has ambal face on it it is arthanareeswara lingam
Along the walls of the temple there is shrine for Nardhana Ganapathi, Vaishnavi, Mother Durga, Maheswari.
Ambal came as Mahakaali to destroy demons and help Devas. She stayed back as Adi Kamatchi. Her anger was calmed by installation of Sri Chakra.
